about

This world is in a state of flux.

This decade has seen changes that would seem an absurd fictional tale, if you were to explain it to someone a generation before. We express and gauge ourselves by social media's omnipotent scrutiny, the ephemeral gaze of minute by minute digital memories, the left and right pull of societal swing, and the disposability of creativity.

'Mayday' is D'Opus & Roshambo's call for concern and observation - a new nine track release that frames their world, as it stands now.

D'Opus forms a production landscape that treads between familiar frequencies and speculative horizons. Rich bass, jarring and soft synthesisers alike, nods to a history sampling with a tighter focus on live instrumentation for the core of the songs. Amidst the interplay, there's plenty of space for a story to be told.

This is where Roshambo completes the message, varying his delivery and tone in the same ebbs and flows as the lyrics in his storytelling. Roshambo has matured, exploring subjects such as the tiring sleeplessness that comes with being a father, the numbness and acceptance of loss, and the complications of creativity.

They call upon a handful of MCs to widen the tale - long time collaborator Axe Aklins, veteran youngblood Nix, as well as the combined collective consciousness of Lash and Jedbrii all lend their voice.

'Mayday is out now on dopusroshambo.bandcamp.com, an epilogue to the past and a foreword to what's ahead.
